Topic: Harvest Recommendations for 2009
Biologist Mike Miller has issued his annual recommendations for Simms Creek WMA. Hunter and landowners are
encouraged to follow the recommendations. These recommendations are based on this past summer’s spotlight and
incidental observation counts.
During August and the first few weeks of September, 707 bucks, 2,315 does and 872 fawns were observed by members.
The harvest of bucks is recommended at 1 buck for every 125 acres and doe harvest is recommended at 1 doe for every
28 acres. It appears the doe harvest needs some attention, so we are encouraging hunters to fill their freezers.
